Penne With Bolognese Sauce
Serves: 6
  • 3 T. Western Family Olive Oil
  • ¾ c. yellow onion, chopped
  • ¾ c. carrots, chopped
  • ¾ c. celery, chopped
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 t. Western Family Salt
  • 1 t. Western Family Ground Pepper
  • 1 c. Western Family 2% Milk
  • ⅛ t. Western Family Ground Nutmeg
  • 1 c. dry white wine
  • 2 (16 oz.) cans Western Family Diced Tomatoes
  • 16 oz. Western Family Penne Rigate (1/2 package)
  • Freshly grated parmesan cheese
  1. Heat oil and sauté onion until brown.
  2. Add carrots and celery and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef, salt and pepper. Cook until meat is thoroughly cooked. Add milk, stir and simmer until milk is absorbed into the meat.
  4. Add nutmeg and wine and simmer until wine is absorbed.
  5. Add tomatoes, mix well and simmer very slowly until all liquid is absorbed. Prepare pasta according to package directions.
  6. Spoon sauce over pasta and sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top.
