The Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 2-1/4 c. flour, unsifted
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • ½ t. salt
  • 1 c. cold, unsalted butter
  • ¾ c. granulated sugar
  • ¾ c. brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 t. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. chocolate chips
  • ¾ c. chopped walnuts (optional)
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt and set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugars until fluffy.
  4. Add vanilla and eggs and beat until fluffy.
  5. Add flour, baking soda and salt mixture to shortening mixture and mix with a spoon until blended.
  6. Blend in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
  7. Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  8. Take a heaping tablespoon of dough and roll into a ball. Place each ball approximately 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Using the palm of your hand press the dough ball until it is half its original height.
  9. Bake 10-15 minutes until lightly browned.
  10. Remove the cookie sheet from oven and place cookies on a cooling rack.
