Orange Raisin Scones

  • 2 c. Western Family All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ c. Western Family Granulated Sugar, divided
  • 2 T. orange zest
  • 1 T. baking powder
  • ½ t. Western Family Salt
  • ½ c. Western Family Unsalted Butter, chilled
  • ½ c. Western Family Raisins
  • ⅓ c. Western Family Sour Cream
  • 1 egg
  • Western Family Cinnamon
  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Spray baking sheet with pan coating.
  2. Whisk flour, ⅓ cup of the sugar, orange zest, baking powder and salt in large bowl.
  3. Add butter and cut into flour mixture with a pastry blender, or blend in a food processor using 10 second pulses. Mixture should resemble corn meal.
  4. Add raisins.
  5. Whisk sour cream and egg together in a small bowl. Add to flour mixture and toss till moist clumps form.
  6. Pour flour mixture onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead just until dough comes together.
  7. Divide dough in half; form each half into a 4” round. Sprinkle with cinnamon and remaining sugar. Gently press sugar into the dough so that it sticks.
  8. Cut each round into 8 equal wedges and transfer to a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool and serve.
