Katy's Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

  • 1 c. Western Family Brown Sugar
  • 1 c. Western Family Granulated Sugar
  • 1 c. Western Family Vegetable Shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 t. Western Family Vanilla Extract
  • 2 T. Western Family 1 % Milk
  • 2 c. Western Family All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • 1 t. Western Family Baking Soda
  • 1 t. Western Family Salt
  • 2 c. Western Family Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • 1-1/2 c. Western Family Sweetened Raisin Toppers
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cream together brown sugar, granulated sugar and shortening.
  3. Add eggs, vanilla and milk and blend well.
  4. Add flour, baking powder, soda and salt to butter mixture and mix well. Stir in oatmeal and sweetened raisin toppers.
  5. Chill dough for 10 to 30 minutes (optional).
  6. Spoon tablespoonfuls of dough onto a greased cookie sheet, leaving room for cookies to spread as they bake.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are light brown.
  8. Cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes; remove from cookie sheet and cool completely on cooling rack.
